Congressional Meetings

Purpose: The Mountain View Associated Student Body Government is made up of the Executive Branch, which consists of students elected and selected into the ASB Student Leadership program, and the Legislative Branch, which consists of the House of Representatives and the Council of Presidents. The House of Representatives consists of students elected or selected by their second period classes to represent their 2nd period class. The Council of Presidents consists of an elected cabinet member from each club or organization on campus.

The Congressional Meetings are held monthly and attended by the Executive Branch as well as the House of Representatives to conduct official school business (budget approvals, club approvals, etc.) and provide a forum for discussing and soliciting feedback from the student body about current school events.

Each month, the Speaker of the House prepares a topic for discussion and sends out questions to teachers for the second period representative to collect feedback on. On the day of the congressional meeting, the 2nd period rep attends the meeting and will have the opportunity to share their class' feedback and present any questions or concerns to the Executive Branch. Each second period rep is a voting member of the House of Representatives.
